Convenience and Conservation

 

As the world’s largest convenience store chain, 7‑Eleven is in a unique position to help sustain communities around the world. Through our corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy, 7‑Eleven will leverage our business to do good by protecting our planet, providing environmentally friendly and high quality products to our customers and by giving back to the communities we serve.

 

CSR Strategic Priorities

Our CSR strategy has three focus areas - planet, products and people.

  • PRODUCTS: Provide high quality, environmentally friendly products
  • PEOPLE: Support local communities

 

Our Approach: steady, continuous improvement

As 7‑Eleven moves forward we continuously improve the foundation for of our CSR strategy. Small, incremental changes add up to significant and sustainable progress.

 

Our 2025 Goals

7‑Eleven expects to grow dramatically in the next 10 years. Our CSR strategy demands that we limit the impact of growth on the planet and the people in the communities we will serve. This year, we partnered with Conservation International, a well-respected nonprofit organization dedicated to building a healthier, more prosperous and more productive planet, to establish goals focused on reducing our carbon footprint. With Conservation International’s guidance, we have set long-term, specific and measurable goals to ensure continuous improvement.

Using 2015 as the baseline, we will continue to reduce our impact on the environment and increase our community engagement by focusing on reducing energy use, limiting product packaging and boosting philanthropic efforts. The goals will expand our longstanding efforts in the U.S. and Canada.

Specifically, it is 7‑Eleven’s goal to:

  • Reduce its energy footprint in stores and offices by 20 percent by 2025
  • Reduce its packaging footprint by 20 percent by 2025
  • Increase corporate giving to 1 percent of operating net income annually, beginning in 2017
